The campsite Les Chênes Rouges is located in the municipality of Argelès-sur-mer, in the Pyrénées Orientales, on the edge of the Albères massif, a rare place in France where cork oaks flourish.

In order to highlight this local heritage and share with you this rare experience (since the cork is lifted only every 10 to 15 years) we appealed to the company A Fleur de Liège, specialist in the harvest of cork in the Department.

After having studied all the oaks present at the campsite, on the morning of July 19th, equipped with their tools and their knowledge, they proceeded carefully to the lifting of the cork for the oaks ready to be harvested.

We are able to share this unique moment with all the morning people present at the campsite for a moment of sharing and conviviality.

Once the cork harvested it will be transformed because its properties offer him different functionalities : insulation, objects … and the trunk devoid of his light will take different shades red.

Now, when you walk in the campsite, you will see many “red oaks”, whether in the common areas like the snack bar or pool, but also on some locations.
