The procession of the Sanch is a religious event, but especially Catalan. It is true that a priori this religious march can surprise because of the dress of the participants. However, it is full of Catholic culture. It is a celebration of Jesus Christ since this event takes place on Good Friday.

During this procession, the processioners carry life-size representations of scenes and characters found in the life of Jesus. These “porters” are recognizable because of their clothes, a long dress with a pointed hood, an outfit with red and/or black colors.

They stroll thus, loaded with statues, in the streets, stopping at key places, representative of their religion and their culture. This event takes place in the city of Perpignan, but also in Collioure or in other villages of the Pyrenees-Orientales department, as well as on the other side of the border, in Southern Catalonia (Girona, …).
