Tautavel is located at the north of Pyrénées Orientales department, 1 hour away from the campsite Les Chênes Rouges. This village is full of history and culture. So you can stroll among the ruins of a feudal castle destroyed in the seventeenth century but also discover the Torre del Far, a tower located at the top of a massif allowing, at the time, to monitor the possible threats of the northern neighbors or visit the chapel of Saintes Puelles, full of history and legends.

Above all, Tautavel is known for its museum of prehistory. Thus, you can discover all European prehistory with new technologies to make you want to learn with your family. On more than 1500m2 of galleries and many reconstructions, you will discover prehistory as you have never seen, especially if you immerse yourself in the Caune de l’Arago, that is to say the cave where we find the largest prehistoric deposits and the place of life of the Tautavel man.
